The Dead hit the Road.

For the first time in 5 years, surviving members of the Grateful Dead will regroup for a concert tour beginning on April 12, 2009.

The group, which formed in 1965 and gained a loyal following for their bluegrass/country/experimental music style, is now known simply as The Dead.  Original guitarist Jerry Garcia passed away in 1995, and Warren Haynes will take the reins as lead guitarist.

Original band members Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann have toured sporadically since the 1995 death of guitarist Jerry Garcia, but struggled to get along personally and artistically. They told Rolling Stone in November that they’ve worked out their differences, aided by a successful October benefit concert in Pennsylvania for Barack Obama.

Warren Haynes once again joins the Dead on lead guitar, and Jeff Chimenti will play keyboards. Many of the shows are already sold out including the 4/25 show at MSG.  After trying for several hours to get tickets through TicketBastards (TicketMaster) I finally gave up. If you have tickets you want to sell at a resonable price please let me know. This is a must see show and the scalpers know it.
